International Catholic University: Self-Study Courses

The International Catholic University provides courses on Catholic subjects by distinguished teachers. It offers graduate level instruction in theology and philosophy, with lecture programs that can function as part of a master's degree program or can be used by students who wish to learn more about the Catholic tradition on their own.

These programs are generally available as videos of lectures on DVDs, or as audio recordings on CDs.

The Catholic Enquiry Center, the national faith promotion outreach of the Australian Catholic Bishops' Conference, has put together a course that aims to assist Catholics seeking a return to faith practice, to offer clear information about the Catholic Faith for those who are searching for faith, and for people of other religious backgrounds, and to promote inter-religious understanding. The Web site of the Catholic Enquiry Centre makes available a series of 18 handouts one for each week of this course.

Online Theology Courses

According to the mission statement written by Father Thomas Dowd, the blog
"Adventus.org exists to help people discover and live the full meaning of the baptismal call. We exist to help people grow in a loving personal relationship with God, and to in turn help them to grow in service to their neighbour through the use of their gifts and talents."
Fr. Thomas Dowd is a Roman Catholic priest for the Archdiocese of Montreal, Canada. He works in the diocesan curia as an associate director for the Office of Pastoral Personnel, and also teaches theology at Concordia University and the Grand Seminary of Montreal.

He has made available online MP3 audio files of two of the courses he has given or is presently giving at Concordia University:

THEO 211L: The Creed (Intro to Roman Catholicism)
THEO 331: Christian Understanding of God

In addition to these, Fr Dowd regularly posts mesages on various subjects related to Catholic faith. His blog is well worth exploring.
